·  Served 6 years with the Fort Drum Environmental Compliance Division assisting the program managers with the duties of Water Sampling, Collected Hazardous Materials, Identified the waste streams, as well as provided assistance with the (P2) Pollution Prevention Program, Also worked as the Pol Program Technician collecting field samples of Fuels and Oils testing for chlorinated solvents and other contaminates.

·  Conducted weekly inspections of Maintenance facilities inspecting Flammable materials lockers and Oil Water separators. Assisted with the coordination of spill response on the installation.

·  Assisted Kelly Roe of Malcolm Pernie with water samples, soil samples,& other duties, Assisted

·  Mike Valvo from Environmental Associates with the recovery of fuel & fuel impacted soil.

·  Served as the primary point of contact for the Environmental Compliance Officers who needed to dispose of both Hazardous, Universal & nonhazardous waste on Fort Drum.

·  These responsibilities include Hazardous waste compliance inspections and conducted compliance assistance visits to determine compliance with the environmental regulations and procedures under the EPA,IAW,DOT,RCRA,OSHA, and NY State DEC.

·  Responsible for the segregation, identification, proper labeling by looking up MSDS sheets on materials and over packing of hazardous, nonhazardous, and universal waste then placing it in the hazardous waste facility for removal/recycle.

·  I monitored satellite accumulation points to assure less than 90 day accumulation was in compliance with the 40 CFR 262.34 & 40 CFR 262.36. Provided technical guidance, information, and recommendations on environmental issues when appropriate. Assisted with the development of reports and other documents. Assisted with the development of SOP’s.  

·  Ensured that waste disposal was in accordance with the Fort Drum Hazardous waste management plan.

·  Conducted tests on underground fuel storage tanks and repaired/replaced lines as needed.

·  Performed annual and semi-annual checks and services on wheeled vehicles and related equipment for the 2-15th FA motor pool. 

·  Vehicles ranged from HEMMTTs, FMTVs, Trailers, Gators, Deuces, and HMMWV, and generators.

·  The checks and services consisted of vehicle inspections for damage, operation of lights, classifications lo leaks, missing or damaged parts, replacement of fluids, CDR valves, glow plugs and PCB boxes. 

·  I also checked coolant conditions, hoses, lines and clamps, drive line components, framework, springs, cross members half shafts and seals were also inspected. 

·  After checks and services were completed parts had to be ordered by looking up NSN’s on FED Log. 

·  All faults and deficiencies were recorded on a 5988-E and given back to the military to be recorded in their system and for the proper parts to be ordered. 

·  After receiving the parts I properly repaired them and returned the equipment back to the unit. 

·  While working with the company I received training in hazardous materials, lockout/tag out, Respirator, Fire Protection and basic PPE training.

·  I began my employment in the raw materials area cleaning the fresh water racks. 

·  I was then placed in the yard area of the ground wood section of the mill and trained on the drum barker, sorting table, and also wood cleaner/ wood piker than finally a grinder-man. 

·  I was then transferred to the clothing and cleaners dept. 

·  There I learned how to change the carious felts and wires on all six paper machines. 

·  Later I was placed in the production department and trained as a fifth hand on five of the machines and the sixth hand on the #6 paper machine. 

·  After approximately one year and I trained as 2nd helper and winder helper in the super calendar department. 

·  I qualified for a bid on #3 and #5 paper machine lines. 

·  When a bid for #1 and #4 lines opened up I accepted a bid for them. 

·  My duties consisted of making quality paper both coated and uncoated at different speeds, moistures and colors.  I also helped to develop different types of specialty papers such as recycled and wet strength papers for soft drink and beer labels that were developed to stay together in water for long periods of time, to recycled computer print out paper. 

·  My training there consisted of hazardous materials, lockout/tag out, respirator training and fitting, fire extinguishers and safety, hearing protection, management training, and flow charts, along with the situation evaluation.  I attended crew meetings, production control meetings, and safety meetings on a regular basis. 

·  As a back tender I was in charge of the dry and crew coordinating with each member in the #1 and #4 paper machines. 

·  As a coater operator and back tender I also performed many operator maintenance repairs as well as major repairs to the paper machine during repair days and emergency shut downs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

 

I have overseen the building of the UOQ’s (Unaccompanied Officers Quarters) The UOQ’s

were four, four story wood foundation buildings complete with elevators and a fire system.

I also oversaw the building of a New Office & Maintenance bldg. as well as the building of 1000 + homes on both the Fort Drum Army Base, Camp Lejeune, New River Air Station, and Cherry Point Marine Corps bases.

 

I have also helped lead the const. workforce to reach a goal of 1620+ days without a lost time incident
